Are workshops repeated?
Sometimes, but mostly not.

What hours are you open?
We are open when a group is running. Otherwise, it’s by chance or by appointment. Generally there’s a good chance of finding a live person here on Tuesdays & Thursdays.

Can I just show up for a workshop, or do I have to pre-register?
Pre-register please. That way, if a group is canceled or postponed, we’ll be able to save you a trip. Also, sometimes canceling a workshop comes down to having a minimum number pre-registered and if we had known you were coming we wouldn’t have had to cancel.

Is it OK to come late?
For most groups, latecomers disrupt the flow. Do your best to be no more than 5 minutes late unless arranged for otherwise in advance.

Do I have to join as a member to get the newsletter mailed to me?
No. We will send out a complimentary issue if you request one. Then, to continue receiving the newsletter, there is a $18 subscription fee.

Do you have any free groups?
Yes. Each newsletter will outline which groups are offered, and at what price. Prices are generally based on the duration of the group. Some workshops are free, and some are at reduced prices. See the workshops page for details. * CFS stands for Cooperative Fee System. It means that the fees are posted, but if you would not take the workshop due to inability to pay, you are invited to pay what you can, and go ahead and register. Those who can afford the published fee might be able to pay a little more. By all cooperating, everyone’s needs are met!

Is WSW Center for battered or abused women?
WSW is not a battered women’s shelter. Nor is it an abused women’s shelter, a financial assistance group, or a medical center. These services are already are provided in this community by other wonderful organizations. WSW is non-political and non-sectarian. WSW is a wellness oriented enrichment center. It is a place for well women to connect, to grow, to learn, to become empowered.

Do you lease out your mailing list to other organizations?
Absolutely not.

If I want to run a workshop at WSW, what do I do?
Submit your proposed workshop by email. We will reply by sending a form with instructions on what to do from there.

Do you have employment opportunities?
No. We’re not set up to employ anyone.

Do you have volunteer opportunities?
For self-motivated people, yes! We always need help distributing the paper newsletter to sites where they will be found by new participants. If you can take a stack and put them in a spot in your region, please plan to stop by and pick up a bunch. We are also looking for Birthday Committee members to plan a WSW birthday bash for either 2008 or 2009. Call or email to explore further.

Can I get a refund?
For groups we cancel, yes. Membership fees are non-refundable. Once a workshop has started, the fee is non-refundable.

Why do all the groups I want to attend happen during the day when I work?
Actually, we have workshops offered in both the day and evening hours. The hours are determined by the leader’s availability. Let us know if you would attend in another time frame, and we’ll see what we can do next time.

Do you run workshops closer to where I live?
99% of our groups are held at 111 Water Street in Exeter, NH. We don’t have any satellite locations at this time. We do have 2 sister centers, one being in Huntington, NY and the other in Milford, MA.

How is WSW Center funded?
We get no public funding. WSW supports itself through membership fees, advertising revenues, counseling fees, and workshop fees.

How long has WSW been around?
We ran a trial support group in borrowed space from October– December 1995 to see if there was interest in such a Center in this area; WSW opened in its present location February 1, 1996.
